Commemorating #DSCDay, CNS extended warm greetings and commended the unwavering professionalism, vigilance, and commitment of DSC personnel, towards safeguarding the naval bases, dockyards, air stations, and critical infrastructure round the clock. In an evolving security landscape shaped by emerging technologies and asymmetric threats, CNS emphasised eternal vigilance, heightened awareness, and proactive security practices to sustain operational readiness. #INSSudarshini arrived at the historic port city of #Alexandria on 01 March 2026, marking a significant milestone in her ongoing transoceanic expedition, #Lokayan26. The arrival follows the vessel’s northbound transit through the Suez Canal after departing #Safaga last week. The three-masted barque’s passage through the 193-kilometre canal - one of the world’s historic maritime gateways linking East and West - served as a major training highlight for the trainees participating in this global voyage. The entry into Alexandria reinforces the #BridgesofFriendship initiative, celebrating the enduring maritime partnership between #India and #Egypt. The two nations share a rich legacy of cultural connections and economic ties spanning several centuries. In recent years, bilateral relations have further strengthened across multiple sectors, including defence and maritime cooperation. The visit of Sudarshini reaffirms India’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation in the maritime domain. Upon arrival, the ship was received by officials from the #EgyptianNavy and the Indian Embassy. The Commanding Officer called on Rear Admiral Mahmoud Abdelsattar, Commander of Alexandria Naval Base. During the port call, the crew will participate in professional exchanges, community outreach, and cultural engagements aimed at fostering mutual goodwill, strengthening interoperability, and enhancing cooperation between the two navies.
Indian Navy’s Sail Training Ship #INSTarangini arrived at #Trincomalee Harbour, #SriLanka on a training visit on 27 February 2026. The ship was accorded a warm welcome by representatives of the Eastern Naval Area of the Sri Lanka Navy. The visit follows the ship’s recent participation in the International Fleet Review 2026 conducted at #Visakhapatnam. During the port call, Commanding Officer of Tarangini called on Cmde Haritha Jayadewathe, Deputy Commander of the Eastern Naval Area and held discussions on avenues of cooperation in sail training. The ship hosted Sri Lankan defence personnel, families, and trainee officers for a familiarisation tour onboard. Community engagement activities and training exchanges are planned during the ship's port call. Selected trainee officers from the Sri Lankan Naval and Maritime Academy will embark on Tarangini for a passage to #Colombo. During the passage, the trainees will be exposed to various facets of sail training. The visit of INS Tarangini underscores longstanding maritime ties and growing cooperation between the #IndianNavy and the #SriLankaNavy.

General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff #CDS visited Headquarters Southern Naval Command, Kochi on 28 Feb. He was received by Vice Admiral Sameer Saxena, #FOCINC #SNC. Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, Kolkata #GRSE in partnership with L&T Kattupalli, the commissioning marks a major boost to India’s anti-submarine warfare and coastal defence capabilities, advancing the vision of #AatmanirbharBharat. Speaking at the ceremony, CNS expressed immense pride in inducting the #IndianNavy’s 4th indigenously designed and built Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft. CNS emphasised that Indian Navy’s pursuit of Aatmanirbharta has proudly evolved from "Make in India" to "Trust in India". CNS lauded the exceptional synergy between GRSE and L&T Kattupalli, a testament to successful public-private collaboration in this pan-India project. CNS also reflected on India’s rich maritime heritage, recalling the Chola expeditions from the Coromandel Coast in 1025 AD affirming India’s identity as a maritime civilisation for over 1000 years. Highlighting the strategic importance of the Indian Ocean Region, CNS stated that India'’ journey to Viksit Bharat 2047 will be shaped by, at, and from the seas, and underscored the Navy’s critical role in safeguarding vital sea lines of communication. Designed to bolster India’s undersea warfare capabilities on the Eastern Seaboard, INS Anjadip, named after the historic island off Karwar, is equipped with cutting-edge technology.
