I’m Japanese American. My grandparents, US citizens, born in California, were imprisoned by the US government for 2 years. The pieces of my grandfather’s birth certificate are all taped together because he carried it folded in his wallet to show every government official that he was a citizen. He didn’t fight. He didn’t resist. He complied, unfolding and folding it so many times, it ended up in pieces. In the end, it still didn’t matter. They still lost everything. THIS IS WHY IT’S OFFENSIVE.
