Do you Intermittent Fast? I used to from 8pm until 12pm the next day, for too many years. Why? Because I thought it would help me ‘burn fat’ 🙃 studies have shown this ‘fat burning’ effect of fasted workouts isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. You’ll likely perform worse in your session (because you don’t have the energy) and eat more later anyway (binge/restrict cycle). It can work for some, but wasn’t for me. The Beetroot Cacao Energy Balls are so delish (now on my web app, link in bio!) Many endurance athletes swear by beetroot for a pre-race snack, as studies have shown it can increase performance, (it contains nitrates, which can help boost circulation and deliver more oxygen to the muscles!) Paired with cacao, also a natural energy booster, and dates for carbohydrates - you’ll be unstoppable if you eat a few of these before an intense training session. CREAMY SPICED TOMATO, TAHINI & KALE BEANS + portion sizes chat! 💪 (recipe on my web app now, link is in my bio to join, more info in the second pinned post on my profile!💚) I get asked a lot to share my exact portion sizes or a What I Eat in a Day type content but I’m afraid you’ll never get that from me, because no two days on my plate look the same! I eat until I’m satiated - but as a rough guide I generally aim for no less than 30g PLANT protein and 10g fibre per meal (and that dictates my portion size) I rarely eat less, sometimes eat more ❤️ Do portion sizes confuse you? 🤔 or are you comfortable listening to your body? #healthybodyhealthymind #highproteindiet #healthyquickmeals #wholefoodsdiet

EQUIPMENT DETAILS (because I’m asked all the time ❤️) 1: Pans. My main is my @lecreusetuk cast iron enamel shallow casserole 30cm in Nectar Yellow. Lasts a lifetime if looked after. 2: @beasthealthuk blender this one is the mega 1200 plus and it has three different sized cups! 3: @wusthof performer santoku knife! Good all rounder I use it for 90% of my chopping - use a cleaver for bigger items like squash & a pairing knife for small fruit 4: @kitchenaid_uk mini chopper for speedy meals! Great for things like soups, bean bowls and chilli’s where you have a tonne of veg to chop finely. 5: my amazing chopping board was made by @rebrand_on_the_way (James) and it’s quite possibly my favourite thing ever. Highly recommend investing in a custom board. RECIPE BELOW ⬇️ Viral not-Mapo Tofu Udon Here’s my take on the super high-protein dish with what I had at home! *NOT TRADITIONAL* 56g protein per serving 👀 300g extra firm tofu 3 heaped tsp corn starch 1 tsp sea salt 1 tsp smoked paprika Pinch of cayenne chilli pepper 1 tsp cumin 4 small spring onions, white and green parts finely chopped 4 cloves garlic, crushed or minced 1 thumb sized piece of fresh ginger, peeled and grated 2 tbsp gochujang paste 2.5 tbsp tamari 1 tbsp rice mirin ½ tbsp toasted sesame oil ½ tbsp maple syrup 300g silken tofu 2 tbsp nutritional yeast Juice of half a lemon 400g cooked udon noodles coriander leaves, to serve Sesame seeds, to serve Fresh chilli or chilli oil (optional), to serve Start with the tofu, press the extra firm tofu firmly, wrapped in an absorbent kitchen towel or a clean tea towel, in 10 second bursts, until no more visible water comes out. Prepare the sauce before you fry the tofu, so it’s ready to go. In a small mixing bowl, whisk the gochujang, tamari, rice mirin, toasted sesame oil and maple syrup together, until you have a thick, smooth sauce with no lumps. In a mixing bowl, crumble the tofu into very small pieces, then add the cornstarch, smoked paprika, cumin, 1 tsp sea salt and a pinch of cayenne chilli pepper (omit of you don’t like it too spicy!). Stir to combine, then heat a dash of neutral oil in a non-stick pan and fry the tofu on a medium/high heat for 8-9 minutes, stirring regularly, until it begins to crisp up. Make a well or hole in the centre of the pan, heat a dash more oil and add the chopped white parts of the spring onion, ¾ of the garlic (3 cloves minced) and the grated fresh ginger. Fry until fragrant, then pour over the sauce, combine well and turn the heat off so it doesn’t burn. You should have a delicious, unctuous looking tofu by now! Set aside whilst you prep the noodles and sauce. To make the silken tofu sauce, add the silken tofu to a blender with the nutritional yeast, the remaining crushed garlic clove and the juice of half a lemon. Blend until very smooth.
