These are some of my favorite portraits I’ve ever made. All these people and moments would exist without me being there. The alchemy of the images lies only in seeing and reflecting the beauty. Creating stillness of life, color, & light. I enjoy talking to strangers, especially in India. I’ve watched people’s faces both light up with joy and shift stoic in pose when I ask them for a photo. Each and every expression being a representation of their self as I simply observe through the lens. Reflections of humanity. I alway pay attention to light, especially in my home. Every afternoon the sun beams through my kitchen window onto the island and the flower arrangements I make. Christmas at home. Creative direction by my mom always. Engineered by my dad. Enjoyed by us all. There was once a time when all we had at home was a single tree and it was more than enough. Over the years, my mom has built the greatest collection of Christmas decor on both sides of the Mississippi and it results in this every December. The real magic of Christmas lies in her hands. 🎄✨
