📕 HAPPY PUBLICATION DAY 🎉 I am so pleased to announce ‘The Weaning GP’ is out TODAY!!! ✨ Honestly, I still can’t quite believe this is happening. I’m just a mum who has done the school run and grabbed a coffee but after two years of late nights and challenges, I feel so grateful to be here. Trying my best to slow down and really take this moment in. 💛

✨ I think it’s time for an introduction… I started this page to help others along the way and ended up writing a book about weaning. 💛 Maybe life with kids really is about never knowing where it’s heading or when your greatest struggles are going to turn into your life’s purpose. 🌱 This book is exactly that for me. What once felt overwhelming has become something I now get to share with others and is a reminder that the hardest parts of our journeys can lead to the most meaningful chapters. 📖💫 📕 Pre-order my book (coming out 25th September) - link in bio Tag a weaning parent below 👇

When I walked into the store yesterday and saw the little setup, I actually burst into tears with overwhelm. For some reason, the little girl inside of me just couldn’t comprehend someone had laid out a chair for me here and that it was my name on the board. Once I quickly pulled myself together, I remembered my mission and my ‘why’ for being here: to lift parents out of the trenches of anxiety and perfection and to hold their hand through the weaning process. Yes it’s an exciting milestone but chatting to you all reminded me of all the fears, worry and questions that come flooding in at this time, born out of our desperate need to want to do the best for our babies. What also really struck me was realising that our hardest moments can bring us the most meaningful opportunities. If R hadn’t choked, this page wouldn’t exist. This book wouldn’t exist and I wouldn’t have the privilege of doing this work - supporting families through something that can be both joyful and overwhelming. So thank you truly for coming and sharing your stories with me! To everyone who came, it means the absolute world 🌍 And to those who are going through challenging times…trust that this place has purpose. You might be standing right on the edge of meaningful change ❤️

🍊 ONE-INGREDIENT TANGERINE SORBET 🍊 That’s right - all you need is frozen tangerine segments for this refreshing little sorbet 🍧 🌟 Ingredients - 2 x tangerines 🌟 Recipe 1. Peel & break up tangerine into segments removing any excess skin 2. Spread tangerine segments on to tray/container and freeze (minimum 6 hours - we popped ours in the night before!) 3. Blend frozen segments in FOOD PROCESSOR by slowly pulsing. You will need a spatula to push it down and pulse a few more times until a creamy consistency is reached (avoid over blending into liquid) 4. Eat right away before it melts! Add toppings if desired - I chose dark chocolate shavings for mummy’s (nothing for baby). 👶🏽 Suitable 9m+ (mainly incase there are any stringy parts of skin that may be left in - small choking hazard) ❗️ Ensure any pips are removed before freezing ❄️ Can be frozen and defrosted although likely to be a little more mushy/icy & lose some flavour Tag someone who needs to cool down 💦 #blw #weaning #babyledweaning #6months #heatwave

☀️ Keeping SAFE in the sun ☀️ Although the sunshine is absolutely glorious for us all, I remember the anxiety it can bring when you have a small baby & worry about over-heating/hydration. I have listed a few tips that may help keep your little one safe during the upcoming hot weather. Remember to increase your own fluid intake too particularly if you are breast-feeding as it’s easy to forget about ourselves! *Do not dilute formula-feeds with water For older babies/toddlers >>> It is completely normal for appetites to reduce in hot weather given digestion generates heat and bodies are working hard to keep cool. Grazing/small and often instead of big meals can be helpful and focus on hydration with fluids, fruits, yoghurt, smoothies. Appetites will return when it cools down. #blw #sunsafety #weaning #breastfeeding #heatwave

🧊 Did you know slushies can be dangerous for young children? The Food Standards Agency has issued official guidance warning that children under 7 should not drink slushies containing glycerol and kids aged 7–10 should have no more than one 350ml serving per day. Glycerol is added to give slushies their icy texture, but at high levels it can cause low blood sugar, shock, and even loss of consciousness in small children. Swipe to learn what to look out for, what to do if your child feels unwell and how to stay safe 👉 📌 Save this for your next trip to a soft play, leisure centre or summer event. @foodgov Food safety | food standards agency | slushies | summer | heatwave | child safety

Everyone says ‘just feed baby what you’re eating’ but what does that actually look like? This mac no cheese works as: • an iron-rich puree • finger food • OR a full family meal No separate cooking needed 🙌 Bonus: toddler-approved beige food with hidden veg + butterbeans for extra iron ✨ Save this for an easy family weaning meal 🤍 MAC NO CHEESE Ingredients 500g frozen butternut squash ½ cauliflower head (save the other half for finger food/side) 100g butterbeans, drained Blob of butter (or olive oil for dairy free) 1 tsp paprika 1 tsp black pepper 200ml milk of choice (+ 50mls extra if needed) 350g macaroni pasta Makes enough for a family of 4 + leftovers/freezer portions. Method 1. Boil the butternut squash + HALF the cauliflower until soft (about 20 mins). Optional: roast the other half of the cauliflower with olive oil, turmeric, paprika + black pepper at 190°C for 20–30 mins for finger food or a family side. 2. Cook pasta as per packet instructions. 3. Blend the cooked veg with butterbeans until smooth. (Take out baby’s puree portion here if serving purées.) 4. Heat butter or olive oil in a pan. 5. Add the blended sauce, paprika, black pepper + milk and stir on low heat until creamy. 6. Add cooked pasta and mix until combined. Serve with grated cheddar cheese on top for toddler/grown-ups. Add salt + chilli flakes as preference 🌶️ 👶 Suitable 6m+ as puree, finger food or family style ❗️ Common allergens - dairy if using butter/cheese/milk but very easily dairy-free and still tastes good. ❄️ Store in fridge for 2-3 days or freeze the sauce Many more recipes like this in my weaning book with plenty of guidance 📕 #blw #weaning #babyledweaning #6months #doctor

Thursday was one of those days that felt beautifully full ❤️ I spent the morning talking to parents about weaning from when and how to wean, first tastes, iron-rich foods, allergens, gagging, choking and much more. We then spent another 30 minutes just talking through questions together and honestly, those conversations are my favourite part. Most parents aren’t looking for perfection, they’re looking for reassurance that they’re not failing. Evidence-based weaning doesn’t mean rigid rules. It means informed, responsive feeding that works for your baby and your family. BUT what these photos don’t show is the chaos in between 😅 Traffic was so bad I abandoned my car at 7am, rushed for a train up north, then a taxi… and managed to get on the completely wrong train home (4 hours sleep!). Somewhere in the middle of it all, I ran downstairs to hug my grandparents before the event, had a quick coffee with my parents afterwards and then travelled back home to my own babies who were waiting patiently! Not to mention our busiest Wednesday in GP the day before so I had to double my clinic all during my husband’s on call week 🫠 An honest reminder to you all that behind every ‘put together’ moment online is usually a lot of juggling, family, CHAOS and love ❤️ Thank you so much to everyone who came along and to @johnlewis @johnlewis_cheadle for giving me the opportunity hosting their first baby event. Beyond rewarding.

We talk about maternal mental health most in the postpartum period but many women tell me their hardest years came much later. As a GP, I see mothers who have spent years overriding exhaustion, anxiety, overwhelm and emotional depletion because life gave them no option but to continue functioning. Maternal burnout is real and many women are silently carrying far more than people realise. Maternal mental health matters long after the baby years end and we must continue to be gentle to ourselves ❤️ #maternalmentalhealth

Sardines are one of the best foods for little growing bodies - packed with omega-3s for brain development, calcium for strong bones and iron to support growth and make every bite count! They’re also a great low-mercury fish option for babies starting solids 🐟✨ Ingredients - 240g tinned sardines (keep 40g to one side for option of spoon-feeding) - 600g boiled potatoes - 3 tbsp plain flour - Half a lemon to squeeze - Chopped fresh parsley - Optional flavourings: black pepper (salt and chilli powder for grown ups) Method 1. Mash sardines in a bowl with a fork 2. Add boiled potatoes and mash further 3. Squeeze half a lemon into the mixture 4. Add parsley, black pepper (salt and chilli powder for grown ups) 5. Add 3 tbsp plain flour 6. Mix further then use your hands to roll the mixture into 12 balls and flatten 7. Fry in olive oil on high heat for a couple minutes on each side. Leave to cool and serve to your baby. You can mash the remaining sardines with avocado for a source of healthy fats if your baby prefers spoon-feeding to offer both options. Suitable from 6m+ due to soft texture Common allergen: fish Store in airtight container for 2-3 days #blw #weaning #babyledweaning #6months #startingsolids
