Like so many race fans, I’ve spent years admiring Kyle Busch. Watching him wheel a race car was something special. Few competitors matched his talent, instinct, edge, and relentless will to win. While I did not know Kyle as deeply as many in our sport, I was fortunate to have a few personal moments with him that I’ll never forget. In 2022 at Homestead-Miami Speedway, my wife Lauren and our kids, Frankie and Tess, joined me for race weekend. My son Frankie was 8 and a huge Kyle fan. As Kyle walked to pre-race, Frankie stood there holding a Sharpie and his M&M’s hat, hoping for a moment. Kyle stopped. Signed the hat. Kept moving. The look on my son’s face was pure joy. A moment neither of us will ever forget. Another memory that stays with me was a conversation before the Coke Zero Sugar 400. We ended up talking about Pennsylvania dirt racing near my hometown of Scranton, kids racing, and being dads. Kyle laughed as he shared how giving racing advice to his son wasn’t always easy—joking that maybe if he won a few more races, his son might be more willing to listen. It was funny, honest, and relatable. That’s how I’ll remember him: a generational talent, a proud father, and someone who made a lasting impression, even in brief moments. The fans showing up at Daytona to pay tribute say everything about the impact he had. Thinking of Samantha, his children, his family, his team, and the entire motorsports community. Rest easy, Kyle.
An unmistakable racing legacy. Kyle Busch's accomplishments at The World Center of Racing spanned multiple victories and poles across numerous series. From winning in his first DAYTONA start racing in the ARCA Menards Series in 2004 as an 18-year-old to his thrilling NASCAR Cup Series victory in the summer of 2008, his achievements speak to his legendary career. In 2026, he led the field to green for the 68th running of the DAYTONA 500. Kyle also made an appearance in the prestigious Rolex 24 in 2020, driving in the GTD class. We share in honoring Kyle Busch's remarkable career, on and off the track. Our thoughts are with the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing, and the entire motorsports world.
