I’ve always dreamed of seeing longboard dancing in the Olympics but never thought that one day I’ll be having the honor of introducing this sport that changed my life to over 300.000 spectators and over 1.5 billion viewers all over the world during the Olympics opening ceremony. It happened yesterday in my city and even with pouring rain and slippery playground, I enjoyed every second of it and will treasure this moment forever 🙏 Hey longboarders ! We’ve made history !! Let’s goooo 🥳❤️ Merci @paris2024 … et merci JD ! #jeuxolympiques #olympics #paris2024 #longboarddancing
Flow state is where riding stops feeling like effort and starts feeling like breathing. Here’s how I get there: 1. Ride a line you can already land most of the time, but not every time. Too hard and you tense up, too easy and you drift off. Flow lives right in that sweet spot. 2. Drop the timer and the goals. Flow hates performance, it only shows up when you stop chasing it. 3. Lock your eyes on a point far ahead and let your body handle the rest. Thinking is what breaks the flow. 4. Ten minutes without your phone is enough to quiet the mind and let the movement take over. #longboarddancing
Why I rarely skate far from the water : I never really noticed it until recently. Every spot I go back to, every session that just feels right, there’s water close by. The ocean here. The Seine before that. 12 years ago in Paris we skated along the docks, right next to the river. We named the whole movement after it. Docksession. The docks, the water, the sessions we ran there. It wasn’t a branding move, it was just where we felt most like ourselves. I think there’s a reason behind it. The way water moves, that constant flow that never forces anything, does something to the way I ride. Having that openness in front of me quiets my head, and when my head is quiet the movement gets fluid on its own. Like the water lends me its flow. The ocean doesn’t make me a better skater. It makes me a calmer one. Turns out that’s the same thing. Is there a place that does this for you? A spot where everything just clicks?
Around 2013, longboard dancing was still finding its identity. The sport barely had any tricks of its own yet, which left a huge open space to just experiment. That freedom is exactly what pulled me in, I could test anything. This trick « Aero Spin » started as another move I’d named the « Aero Grab », where you catch the board with your hand mid air. But the grab always bugged me. Holding the board kills its momentum and caps how big the trick can go. So I forced myself to do it without the hand. Left free, the board flies higher and the whole thing gains real magnitude. That’s how the Aero Spin came to life. 🙌 #longboarddancing
You keep blaming your longboard dancing skills. Sometimes it’s just your board. 5 things to check: 1. Trucks too tight: If the board can’t lean, you can’t carve. Loosen the kingpin a quarter turn at a time until it feels alive under your feet. 2. Wheels too hard: They vibrate and slide out on rough asphalt. For dancing, softer wheels (77-80A) grip better, roll quiet and forgive your mistakes. 3. Wrong flex: Your deck should flex with YOUR weight. Too stiff means no trampoline effect, no pop, no flow. 4. Wrong bushings: The most underrated part of your setup. Bushings too hard for your weight kill the board, even with loose trucks. Match them to your weight, it changes more than any trick tip. 5. Overpriced bearings: Unless you ride downhill and chase every km/h, expensive ceramic bearings change nothing. For dancing, a basic clean set does the exact same job. Put that money in wheels and bushings. Fix these five and you’ll progress faster without learning a single new trick. What’s your wheel duro? 77, 80, 83 or 86A?

Soon 43 yo and still dancing 🕺🏻 #longboarddancing
After 18 years on a longboard, if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: That effortless flow isn’t about forcing the deck to turn. It’s about learning how to manipulate gravity. Here is how I approach it to keep my lines completely fluid: 1. Lead with your hips: The biggest mistake I see is trying to steer solely with your feet. You need to initiate the carve from your core and hips. Let your lower body naturally follow the momentum you create up top. 2. Compress & Extend: Treat your legs like a spring. I sink low into my knees as I lock into the carve for maximum stability, then slightly extend at the exact apex of the turn. That extension unweights the board, making the edge switch feel completely weightless. 3. Eliminate the dead zones: Weight transfer shouldn’t feel like an on/off switch. It’s a continuous, rolling wave from heel to toe. Keeping that constant micro-pressure is what maintains pure momentum without ever breaking your rhythm. #longboarddancing
