Over 30 years ago, 2X World Champion Damien Hardman on The Search. This was the very first time The Search went to Indo, and the boys had a blast aboard The Indies Trader. We aim to save, restore, and share the iconic images that mean so much to our surf tribe. @nalufilmfoundation It’s the surf movies, the raw film and video footage, the still photos; all of these visuals have the power to connect us to the ocean and surfing, and remind us of our deep love and appreciation for it all. Let’s make sure all these images are still here for our generation and future generations. The Nalu Film Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and accepts donations to support the mission. Time, like everything else, is significantly impacting all types of analog recordings. This issue is becoming urgent. Film negatives and videotapes have limited lifespans; these original physical assets need to be preserved in a controlled environment and converted to digital files as soon as possible. We must prevent these iconic films, videotapes, and the historic content on them from being lost; this is why the Nalu Film Foundation was established. Upon first inspection, the film reels appeared intact, and we were able to put them on the film scanner and transfer them to digital files. We think they look great. Now, the Col. Al Benson Film Archives are in climate-controlled storage (The Nalu Vault), and there are still thousands of feet of original film negatives that need to be scanned, archived, and made available to the surf tribe. The Nalu Film Foundation is a grassroots effort to preserve surf history and inspire the future. Please join us as we embark on this mission for our generation and future generations.
