Paramount Skydance is now lined up to purchase the entirety of Warner Bros. Discovery after Netflix refused to raise its offer to meet a new proposal worth around $111 billion. After the bidding for Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) began last December, with Netflix’s accepted offer being rivalled by a hostile takeover bid from Paramount Skydance, we finally have news that an increased offer from Paramount will likely move forward. The offer from Paramount would see it acquire all of WBD, including the organisation and promotion of mountain bike World Cups, while the Netflix deal was only for select parts of the company. As part of an update to its offer this week, Paramount increased its bid to $31 per share, agreed to pay $7 billion if the deal falls through and will cover a $2.8 billion fee that WBD had agreed to pay Netflix if its merger did not complete. This is a new one - usually our Spotted articles are about unreleased items from larger companies, not small one-man operations. @aridcycles has developed another version of their Spade enduro frame. This time, the prototype is made from carbon instead of bonded aluminum. Full article on the homepage now

Because more, is more 😳 Throughout mountain bike history, a dozen (or so) frames have featured two rear shocks. Their purpose can usually be divided into two categories: to achieve more travel, or to separate the spring and damping rates. The last bike to use two shocks was a half-dozen years ago, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a “bump-stop” feature added to certain frames in the future. Full article on the homepage now
Trek, Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, Specialized, Shimano, Marin, GoPro, Ibis, Bell Sports, QBP, Osprey, Yakima, REI, and other prominent outdoor brands are suing the US Government for its implementation of import tariffs that, on Friday of last week, were ruled illegal by the US Supreme Court. The tariffs in question were justified by the Trump Administration under IEEPA - the International Emergency Economic Powers Act - a federal law that, according to the Congress website, “provides the President broad authority to regulate a variety of economic transactions following a declaration of national emergency.” Full article on the homepage now

When a prototype DH bikes ends up on the top of a World Cup podium that’s a good sign development is headed in the right direction. It’s also a sign that @ronandunne_dh is fast as hell. Either way, Dunne’s win on the new @mondrakerbikes Summum at Les Gets last year was a feather in the cap for the team that had been working on the latest version of this DH race bike. The new Summum is the result of two years of development, and many of the changes came directly from racer feedback. The geometry and kinematics have been updated to meet the demands of modern race tracks, and there’s now a very wide range of possible setup option to allow riders to fine tune the bike to their liking. SRAM and Shimano tend to dominate the broad spectrum of bike builds, but they’re far from the only players in the drivetrain market. Microshift is quietly one of the best to compete with them, offering solid performance at reasonable prices. They tend to be a bit behind the trend on the technology implemented in their drivetrains, but that’s part of what keeps the price down. Today’s launch marks their advancement into the realm of 11 speeds, the Advent MX drivetrain. Advent MX is primarily focused around the 11-speed group, but there is a 10-speed variant thrown in the mix to keep things just a little bit confusing. At the tail end of last year’s World Cup DH season it seemed like a different portion of the new @rockshox Boxxer fork was being revealed at every round. First it was the odd-shaped lowers, then it was the dimpled stanchion tubes, and the 3.2 designation for the Charger damper made an appearance. Put all those together and you have most of the key components of the new fork, which means keen internet sleuths may already have a decent guess as to what’s going on inside. The wait is over, so the speculation can cease, at least until the next bike with a diaper rolls up to the starting line. Almost everything on the Boxxer has been updated in some way, from the shape of the lower legs to the indicators on the compression adjustment dials.
