After an off-season filled with team rumors and wheel size debates, it’s time for mountain biking’s biggest spectacle to return to the forefront as the 2026 World Cup season begins this week. 💥🏆🌎 While recent seasons have delivered no shortage of drama and excitement both on and off the track, 2026 is shaping up to be a legendary year for downhill with an already stacked field of talent growing with the inclusion of some generational talent graduating from the junior ranks. As we approach round one in South Korea 🇰🇷 with just days until riders and teams set foot on the new course, here at Pinkbike, we have compiled everything you need to know about the 2026 downhill World Cup season. ✍️ Head to the homepage for the ultimate guide for downhill World Cup racing in 2026. 📸 @nathhughesphoto
@srammtb announced their acquisition of Ochain last summer, leading to all sorts of speculation about the future of the product. As it turns out, the concerns about compatibility were valid - the new versions are only available for cranks that use SRAM’s 3- or 8-bolt mounting pattern, but the price has dropped, the service intervals have increased, and it’s now possible to upgrade the base model to the externally adjustable R model, so it’s not all doom and gloom. Nukeproof is back at DH World Cups 💪 @joe_breeden17 of @nukeproof_axess_racing is making a statement with his custom @ridewrap @nukeproofbikes Dissent carbon here in South Korea. The team has changed quite a few things this year, most notably they are now aboard Nukeproof and are running @srammtb and @rockshox head to toe. They also have @camden.rutherfurd joining them for his first ever World Cup race. Some interesting things we noticed about Joe’s bike - He’s running an @ochaincomponents with 12 degrees float and an @ethirteencomponents sidekick hub with max float. - @crankbrothers wheels front and rear, but he’s opted to run an aluminium rim up front with a carbon e-mtb rim in the rear - He’s joined forces with @wolf_tooth_comp to make his bar ends (more on that soon)
32” wheels are coming to the world of mountain bikes. Over the past year, component manufacturers have been trickling out the largest diameter tires and wheels. Why are they doing this? Well, it’s speed. Historically, the bigger the wheel, the faster a rider is able to go. We wanted to find out if that’s applicable in the world of downhill racing, so we managed to squeeze a 32” saucer to the front of a production frame and fork to test if this setup is indeed faster. STRIKE! Somehow ok after this huge one. Thanks to the medics @tdsenduro for looking after me and to @bellhelmets for saving my noggin. Such a fun event, regardless of this, and I couldn’t miss it for the world. Hero dirt on day 1 made for the sickest riding, and day 2 was a hectic slop fest that might’ve been even more fun. Was gunning for spirit this year, and it was brutal, haha. We’ll get 'em next time. As always, can’t wait for next year! Thank you to the Sanchez family for always bringing me in and making me feel at home. I love this community so so much ❤️ (PS: Did it for you, Chucko! And sorry to the homie that I folded, He's ok!) #mtb #crash #missionary

Adventure cargo… Cargo enduro? 👀 Adventure cargo is the market niche that James of @sentient.works is looking to fill. His aim is to create the most capable and comfortable off-road cargo bikes, and this is his second attempt. The cargo bike has a twin-link suspension platform delivering 165 mm of rear wheel travel to a 27.5” wheel, with a 20” wheel out front on around 120 mm of squish courtesy of a Manitou fork. The platform can hold around 30 kgs. Head over to the homepage now for more wonderful creations from the @bespoked.cc
