Straight into a crazy bomb,— every inch of 75 feet on the face—streaking at the limit of surfboard maximum velocity, comes unglued in the foamy chop at the bottom, spends 30 seconds underwater headed for potential lethal cliff impact, only to be rescued by @sebastiansurfs just yards from the rocks in front of the lighthouse, all of it to the supreme delight of 100,000 spectators lining every square foot of the headland amphitheater. As you probably all have noticed Mullaghmore was the place to be last Thursday. Here we have a story featuring @masonhycebarnes who pulled into two massive barrels on that day. - The Atlantic Ocean blessed me with the biggest barrel of my life for my birthday and Christmas this year. What a privilege to ride this wave, what a privilege to team up with @gearoidmcdaid and tow him into some of the heaviest waves I’ve ever seen, and what a privilege to be a part of this day. The night before this swell I clearly remember being more scared than ever. I couldn’t sleep and all I could do was imagine what the waves were going to look like with the amount of energy and swell that was forecasted to arrive. That morning, myself and Gearoid agreed that we were not going to check it, we where going to meet in the harbor and go straight out to avoid any hesitation and doubt that might come from watching it from the cliff. We get into the lineup and the first thing we see is @conormaguiree kicking out of one of the most incredible rides I have ever seen. People were getting the rides of their lives before the sun had even came up, you could feel this day was going to be something special. My priority more than anything was getting Gearoid the waves of his life and getting him back to the shore safely. We found him a few crazy waves and he was ready to return the favor. My first wave, was a brutal wipeout, I hit a giant chandelier and become one with the lip going straight over the falls. Gearoid was right on me and picked me up with ease. My second wave was perfect, and gave me the confidence to wait for a bomb, the photo above was my third and final wave and was by far the largest barrel I’ve ever had the privilege of riding. This was one of the most incredible days of surfing I’ve ever been a part of. There is nowhere more raw, powerful and mesmerizing than this place, and to see it show itself at that magnitude was nothing short of a dream. These are memories that will last a lifetime and friendships that are stronger than steel! #surfing #mullaghmorehead
