Reading laundry detergent directions. Identifying her lipstick color. Getting a vivid description of a lake scene. And finding the right kettlebell at the gym by calling a Be My Eyes volunteer through her glasses — completely hands-free. I'm here to build personal superintelligence that facilitates connection between people. Getting to push on the research, the products people actually live with, and the mission to bring people closer together all at once has been the best part of the internship." 💬 @sinansc, Research Scientist Intern: "I like how research scientists come up with ideas, document them, get approval to collaborate on them as they do in academia, but in a faster and more productive way. There are smart people here following the most up to date scientific trends, looking to integrate them into the products that connect people in depth. 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙤𝙣𝙚. More than 130,000 American veterans are legally blind. Today, the work our wearables team has poured into AI glasses is going directly to every single one of them — for free. Our Ray-Ban Meta glasses can read text, identify objects, and help veterans manage everyday tasks using just their voice. It’s a step change in daily independence. We’re partnering with the @blindedveteransbva for hands-on training with every pair — monthly webinars, in-person events, and dedicated guides. Don Overton, the US Army veteran who inspired this effort, said it best: “When I lost my eyesight in Desert Storm, I also lost my independence. For us, it can look like a table full of snacks we grew up eating. 🍘 For API Heritage Month, Meta hosted a “Snacks from Your Childhood” tasting — a space where culture wasn’t just acknowledged, it was celebrated, shared, and tasted. From Indian classics to Japanese favorites to Korean staples, every snack on that table represented someone’s story. Alongside the tasting, @nyproductmanager, Product Manager at Instagram, organized a volunteer activation where Meta employees decorated meal bags for Heart of Dinner, a nonprofit delivering free meals to elderly Asian Americans in NYC.
