“They really got me with that ‘star in a bottle’ line,” laughs Zoe Fisher ’23, SM ’23 about her inspiration to study materials for fusion power plants. She first heard commercial fusion described as a quest to create the energy equivalent of a star in a bottle in her MIT Freshman Pre-Orientation Program and is now pursuing her doctoral research at MIT’s Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering.
